While the best source of nutrients is through a healthy diet – this is harder to accomplish that in the past. Modern agricultural practices have depleted our soil – resulting in food that is less nutrient dense than in the past. And if your diet does not include fresh foods – the chance of attaining the nutrients necessary to create health and longevity is deceased even more. 

The AMA – which historically did not support the practice of taking supplements, stated in their journal JAMA – that everyone would benefit from taking a multivitamin. Their rationale is related to the fact that our soils are depleted, and that the average American diet includes significant amounts of junk food and packaged foods, which do NOT provide us with the essential nutrients we need to create health and vitality. 

The Metagenics multivitamin that I recommend is either the Phyto Multi Multivitamin or the Metagenics Multivitamin. Each of these are made with, or without iron. Iron is recommended for children, teens, and premenopausal women. Anyone else should avoid iron, unless they have been advised by their doctor, that they would benefit from taking it.
